DRAWING
Drawing sits at the heart of everything we do at Paint and Draw Atelier. It is the foundation of all artistic disciplines, supporting painting, printmaking and mixed media, and giving artists the tools to observe, interpret and express the world around them. Our approach balances curiosity and structure, combining playful, explorative mark making with more traditional academic techniques to help you build confidence, skill and personal style.
Drawing classes

Our drawing classes use a wide range of media including charcoal, graphite, ink, soft pastel and oil pastel. Through guided exercises and longer studies, you’ll explore line, tone, texture and form, learning how different materials can shape your visual language. While our speciality is representational drawing (with a strong focus on the figure and portrait) we also cover still life, interiors and other subjects to broaden your experience. These sessions are designed to be welcoming and supportive, whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or returning to drawing with years of experience.

Drawing lessons Portsmouth

Our drawing lessons in Portsmouth are open to complete beginners and experienced artists alike. We believe everyone can draw, and our philosophy is to assist you in developing your own artistic voice and sustainable creative practice. Teaching is thoughtful and encouraging, helping you understand core principles while allowing space for experimentation and individuality. Courses that we offer include Drawing in Colour, Figure Drawing courses, Charcoal Portraits and Drawing the Figure in Soft Pastel (a specialist masterclass led by Katie Munro).
